Product Description

Interleukin-2 (IL-2), also known as T cell growth factor (TCRF), is a cytokine with broad biological activity primarily produced by activated CD4+ T cells and CD8+ T cells. It is a growth factor for all T cell subtypes, promoting long-term survival of T cells in vitro and stimulating the proliferation of activated B cells. IL-2 is an important factor in regulating immune responses, participating in antibody reactions, hematopoiesis, and tumor surveillance.

This product is produced by fermenting, isolating, and efficiently purifying a prokaryotic expression system (E. coli) containing the highly expressed human IL-2 gene, followed by lyophilization. It consists of a peptide chain composed of 134 amino acid residues, with a molecular weight of 15 kDa.

The product is a sterile lyophilized powder, prepared by lyophilizing a protein solution containing 10 mM phosphate at pH 7.2 after filtration through a 0.2 μm filter.

Biological Activity

IL-2 is a cytokine with multiple biological activities. Modern immunology research has shown that IL-2 is a necessary factor for the long-term growth of T cells in vitro, and it is also a factor for T cell maturation. It can promote the proliferation of activated T cells and differentiate them into mature effector TD cells and TC cells. It induces an increase in the expression of IL-2R on the surface of T cells, and can also stimulate the secretion of other cytokines (TNF, IFNR). Therefore, IL-2 plays the most important role in the activation, proliferation, and transformation of T cells, and its function is achieved through its receptor (IL-2R) on the cell surface. In addition to T cells, IL-2 also has an upregulating effect on the function of B cells, NK cells, and macrophages. Th1 cells activated by B cells can produce various pro-inflammatory factors (including IL-2, IL-12, TNF, and IFN-γ); NK cells have IL-2R β chain γ chain on the surface, IL-2 stimulates NK cell activation and proliferation, and induces NK cells to secrete factors such as IL-2 and IFN-γ.

Guidelines for Use

It is recommended to dissolve the lyophilized rhIL-2 in sterile water for injection or sterile ultra-pure water, with a concentration of no less than 100 μg/ml, for further dilution to the working concentration. It is advisable to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles as much as possible.
