B-27 Supplement is an optimized serum-free supplement used to support the growth and viability of embryonic, post-natal, adult, hippocampal and other central nervous system (CNS) neurons.
B-27 Supplement is supplied as a 50× liquid and, when added to suitable neuronal basal medium, can be used on the one hand for the culture of essentially homogenized (<0.5% glial cells) neurons without the use of an astrocyte feeder layer in order to obtain optimized activity and long term viability, and on the other hand for the culture of neurally derived tumor cell lines to efficiently ensure their activity. The addition of B-27 Supplement to DMEM/F-12 medium has been shown to support the expansion of EGF-responsive precursor cells from the mouse embryonic striatum and midbrain.
In addition, B-27 supplement (50X)，minus vitamin A, item number PWL043, is suitable for neural stem cell culture while preventing their differentiation.
