Product Description
Ham’s F-12K (Kaighn’s) Nutrient Mixture is an improved version of Ham’s F-12 nutrient mixture, based on the formulation by Kaighn. Ham’s F-12 is derived from Ham’s F-10 medium and has increased concentrations of choline, inositol, putrescine, and several amino acids. Ham’s F-12K further enhances the concentrations of amino acids and pyruvate while reducing the glucose content. Additionally, modifications have been made to the composition and concentration of salts (Konigsbergs).
Ham’s F-12K medium was originally designed for culturing primary human liver cells as well as differentiated cells from rats and chickens. It is suitable for single-cell seeding of CHO cells under serum-free conditions and can also be used for certain other types of mammalian cells, such as chondrocytes and rat prostate epithelial cells, when serum is added.
This F-12K (Kaighn’s) Medium is modified as follows:
With | Without |
L-Glutamine (2mM) | HEPES |
Sodium Pyruvate (2mM) | |
Phenol Red (3mg/L) |
Please refer to the instruction manual for detailed formulation.
