Advanced DMEM/F-12

Product Description

Advanced DMEM/F-12 (Dulbecco’s Modified Eagle Medium/Ham’s F-12) is a widely used serum-reduced basal medium for culturing mammalian cells with reduced fetal bovine serum (FBS) addition.

Advanced DMEM/F-12 medium offers reduced serum addition compared to other basal media due to the addition of the following ingredients: insulin, transferrin, bovine serum albumin, ethanolamine, ascorbic acid, glutathione, and a variety of trace minerals (sodium selenite, ammonium metavanadate, manganese chloride, and copper sulfate).

Compared to classic DMEM/F-12, the use of Advanced DMEM/F-12 reduces the amount of serum added by 50~90% without affecting cell growth rate and morphology, which helps to reduce fluctuations in culture conditions and prolongs the use of serum from the same batch. When using Advanced DMEM/F-12, cells such as MRC-5, SP2, MSC, Vero, CHO-K1, 293T, and Jurkat can be cultured without acclimatization.

This product contains: D-glucose, non-essential amino acids, phenol red, sodium pyruvate.

Does not contain: L-glutamine, HEPES.

Production process: This product is prepared with Water-For-Injection, and the production process is strictly in accordance with GMP regulations and completed in a clean room that meets the requirements.

Promotion of cell proliferation in Meiluncell Advanced DMEM/F-12 with serum reduction

Complete medium was made by adding different proportions (0, 2%, 5%) of fetal bovine serum to DMEM/F-12 and this product, respectively, and used to culture UC-MSC, CHO-K1, Vero, and 293T cells inoculated with a certain number of cells. When there was a significant difference in cell density, cell number and survival rate were counted (n=3).

On UC-MSC, CHO-K1, Vero, and 293T cells, the product had a 2-7-fold higher proliferative effect than DMEM/F-12 for the same serum-free and reduced serum (0-5% FBS) (Figure 1); the product with 0-0.53% FBS added was comparable to the number of cells cultured in DMEM/F-12 with 5% FBS added (Figure 1);in the same serum-free and serum-reduced (0-5% FBS) cases, the viability of cells cultured with this product was significantly higher (Table 1).

Comparison of the cell proliferation-promoting effect of Meiluncell with the international G brand Advanced DMEM/F-12 when 1% FBS was added

Complete medium was made by adding 1% fetal bovine serum to Meiluncell and G brand Advanced DMEM/F-12, respectively, and was used to culture UC-MSC, 293T, CHO-K1, and Vero cells inoculated with the same cell number. Cell number and survival were counted when there was a significant difference in cell density (n=9).

With the same reduced serum (1% FBS), this product cultured slightly higher cell counts and survival than the control (Figure 2).
